Why did you choose the name The Comfort Hoard?
I chose "The Comfort Hoard" because I wanted to create a space where people can find a comforting treasure that brings joy: something to snuggle with, things to fidget with, or a cute mug for your favorite beverage. Mine happens to be hot chocolate.
Why "hoard," though?
For some, the word hoard may hold a negative association, and I don't want to downplay the seriousness of mental health. But the word can also bring to mind a carefully collected assortment of treasured things.
For me, it immediately makes me think of a Dragon's hoard.
I love to read, and fantasy is one of my favorite genres. Dragons, magical creatures, and carefully guarded collections of treasures have always captured my imagination. So, in the context of The Comfort Hoard, the word 'Hoard" brings me a little joy and feels like the perfect way to describe a collection of comforting things.
Why did you originally choose the panda-and-flower logo, and why did you change it?
Believe it or not, a dragon was one of my first ideas.
My thought process was something like: Dragon? Hmm... maybe. But what if I tried something different?
I liked the idea of a panda because they're often associated with being big, soft, and cuddly.
Bears and cats are animals I've always felt drawn to, and pandas happen to share some surprising features such as their cat-like eyes. That made the panda feel like a fun and meaningful choice for the original logo.
Over time, the idea of a dragon's collection of treasures kept drawing me back in with its stronger connection to my original concept.
Why lavender and chamomile?
Lavender and chamomile are commonly associated with calm, comfort, and relaxation. They're also beautiful, pollinator-friendly flowers, which made them feel like a natural fit for the soft, comforting feeling I wanted the artwork to have.
Original logo:

Alt text: Blue and white cartoon-style panda bear with arched lavender sprigs on either side and two chamomile flowers at the bottom of the sprigs. Under the panda bear are the words The Comfort Hoard in a bubble-like blue font.
New logo artwork: Created using alcohol art markers, colored pencil, and acrylic paint markers.

Alt text: Cute cartoon-style dragon bust in pastel green, pink, purple, and blue, with five arched lavender sprigs on each side and five chamomile flowers at the bottom.
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to learn a little more about the story behind The Comfort Hoard.
I hope it gives you a better sense of what the name represents and the comfort, creativity, and little bits of joy I hope to share here,
